vs a shitty team. One score game in the 4th. I think statistically, Oregon St has the worst defense in P5.

Bama just dropped 600 yds on the #3 team in the nation. They run a spread passing offense, that looks a lot like Oklahoma.

Team looked no different.  Helton ran through his scripted plays in the 1st Q which were all short passes and some runs sprinkled in.  Then it was right back to the chuck n duck when he ran out.  This was a game he needed to work on the run game and give his OL the opportunity to know what it feels like to dominate on the ground.

But no, you get quick scores and let a 2-win team slant you to death with no answer.  I won't be surprised if Cal wins this week.  They are improving and played Wazzu very tough last night

Cal beat this same team by 42 points. Cal is better coached than the mess than is USC. That Cal winning streak very well may come to an end next Saturday. It's the last good thing Gomer has ruined...yet.

Bama lets their qb run, though mostly on scrambles, but enough that the D has to play them honest.  That is one of the biggest problems with usc - the qb doesn't fit the scheme.  If you're going with JT, get him under center with a FB and TE(s) and go with a TRUE run first O, mixing in play action. If not, go with the ZR with Sears and let him carry the ball enough to make the D honor it. Helton is trying to force the merger of the two b/c he doesn't want a running qb, but then the zr doesn't work.  Beyond clueless.

'SC was one blown call from being in a tie game in the 4th on the road with all the momentum against them. Only Clay could put USC's athletes in a scenario like that against OSU.

This.

USC has never had an offensive identity under Helton because he has no offensive identity. He's taken bits and pieces from his mentors, Lane and Sark, and combined them with what his brother brought from Western Kentucky. We are left with a no huddle, shotgun spread that doesn't run uptempo, focuses on one on one matchups on the outside in the passing game and slow-developing or read option plays in the run game without a mobile QB.

No wonder we have grab bag, Xbox play calling with seemingly no rhyme or reason to individual calls, no deception via personnel or pre-snap movement and seemingly zero understanding of how to set a defense up. The whole offense is a grab bag, mishmash of divergent and failed offensive philosophies.
