Pac 12 Pigskin Message Board

Hoss
As predicted, we lost by double digits to a Pac-12 South team. Also, as predicted, despite the close wins this team is getting worse.

The staff played fast and loose with Gustin's health and now his career is over. They continue putting a freshman QB in awful situations and now his health is in jeopardy. Helton is losing the locker room and the parents.

More losses are coming.

All fine choices. I'll take anyone who has had some measure of success as a head coach and has absolutely no connection to Kiffin, Sark or Helton. If any program has ever needed a completely fresh start it's USC.

Some of the stats from tonight:

First downs:
Utah 27, USC 10

Rushing yards:
Utah 200, USC 73

Total yards:
Utah 541, USC 205

Time of Possession:
Utah 34:48, USC 25:12

'SC had a 9-yard touchdown "drive", a miracle jump ball touchdown on a broken play and a defensive touchdown. Score could have easily been much worse.

This was a thorough beatdown by a Pac-12 South opponent. Not Alabama. Not Ohio State. Not Notre Dame. Utah. What defense does Helton have left?

One more stat:

Clay Helton coached team's as underdogs: 1-11.

Don't be surprised if USC loses to either ASU or Cal. They shouldn't,  but this is a Gomer led squad and never underestimate how easily he can lose games.

Absolutely. Those teams can score, we are so inept on offense it’s scary.
We realistically could have heen down 41-0 before Utah went into a semi prevent D when Fink came in.

wouldn't surprise me at all.  Herm has his guys playing tough.  Look at these scores and tell me if this doesn't sound eerily familiar for a first year coach taking over a dumpster fire of a program...

Beat Mich St
Lost by 7 to UW
Lost by 7 to SDSU
Lost by 7 to Col
Lost by 7 to Stan

I fully expect SC to win at home next week, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's another squeaker.  I know it was garbage time and Utah was just keeping everything in front of them, but I think Fink pairs much better with this shit OL vs a statue Freshman making a living off of heave and hope.

Time to start hitting all the time. Time to sit Toa and Chuma and get the OL working on fundamentals.  Fire Martin and the OL fuck, move Trevino to OL and OC and let him call plays. Helton, you're now a figurehead HC for 5 more games - you handle the coffee and donuts.  CP can make the in game decisions.  Sit JT and let Fink and Sears show what they can do from a REAL ZR offense - yes, the qb will actually carry the ball a lot of the time.  No FB, so going under center will need to wait, so dance with who brung ya.

Get stoops on speed dial and give him what he wants, with one stipulation - none of his brothers can be on the staff ever.  BS, you have a serious rolodex, use it.

This is how you fix this situation.  Might even give ND a scare for a half.

oh, and ps. How you guys liking Orgeron now?  All he ever needed was a qb, which would have been no problem at USC.  He'll be the only one to give bama a scare this year.  Would have saved USC a lot of heartache, wasted time and money. You guys should have listened to me.

At this point I'd put every game except OSU in that category. 'SC got dominated last night. They've lost 3 of their last 6, all by double digits. They've been outscored 171-139 in those 6 games. As I posted earlier this year, this team's play is continuing to devolve the longer they are led by the current staff.

The only thing giving 'SC a chance is the talent, but the players aren't dumb. They know that they're not being prepared properly and not being put in positions to succeed on the field. Now they see their teammates dropping like flies as the coaches get more and more desperate to save their own asses and rush them back onto the field like Gustin or throw them to the lions like J.T.

The players are the only thing giving these coaches a chance to win. If they check out it's going to get really ugly.

The program is dead...dead. The mortician was Haden who killed it and buried it. This Utah beating was every bit as bad as the Bama and ND beat downs save the score. Completely manhandled by a team who gets no where near the recruiting talent SC does. Whittingham gets and 2 and 3 stars to play over their heads while Gomer gets 4 and 5 stars to play like 1 stars. Utah obviously hits and tackles in practice instead of hugging. I bet the Utah coaches aren't feeding their guys ice cream and cookies like Gomer does. I bet Utah's players actually spend a lot of time in the S&C program. They are well coached so they play fast while SC's badly coached players play slow as slugs.

The question now is does SC have the $$$ to replace this idiot or is the recent over $200,000,000 payout and lack of a president mean this idiot head coach is back in 2019 no matter how bad this season ends up? Do we have a Casey Wasserman type alum who will organize fellow rich alums to buy out this fraud and go get a top coach? I hope so.
