Change my mind.

10 years of pathetic coaching has made the program a laughing stock not seen since the end of the Hackett era.

It is comically bad. Instead of Hackettesque to describe horrendous play it will be Heltonesque in the future. Gomer is done after the ND destruction in November. Just hope for a miracle in the hire of the next coach.

Stoops was available once before, maybe second times a charm?

Thing is, we could go 8-4, win the South, and it wouldn’t matter...we are not a team working towards a NC.....which makes Gomer a complete waste of time.

Yeah, I'm concerned Helton will pull off a 8-4 record at this point (Utah and ND being the losses to come). Wins over cream puffs, but the rah rahs will buy it as a successful season. Starting to regret that Sam Darnold ever played at USC, otherwise Helton would already be long gone...

These things have a way of working themselves out. On this date 18 years ago, Paul Hackett's final team at USC was undefeated and ranked 8th in the country. Obviously, Clay has a lot more to work with than Paul did, but the overall trajectory of his tenure is the same as Hackett's.

I still expect 2 more losses before we get to ND and then the Irish can put us all out of our misery at that point by doing to Clay's team what they did last year.

There is zero appetite amonst the administration to fire the football coach but outside forces can and will force their hand.

the boosters need to step in and usurp HH's role here.  They need to force the dismissal of Helton and crew, but more importantly, they need to go out and find a suitable replacement (I still contend Stoops is the best choice, tho I will add, how bout those Tigers of LSU - Orgeron would have worked at USC).  The boosters are gonna need to sweeten the salary of the new staff (other big schools now do this routinely) to get this beyond USC's fixation of the bottom-line.

Offer Stoops 10m per. 1m bonus for a NC.
